The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing targeting three dam
construction phase can begin at the end of this year. All three are Kuwil
Kawangkoan Dam in North Sulawesi, Ladongi Dam in Southeast Sulawesi, and Way
Sekampung Dam in Lampung. "The target for completion in 2020," said
Head of Dam the Ministry of Public Works, Imam Santoso.
He explained that the signing of the contract construction of Ladongi
and Way Sekampung Dam scheduled next week. While the construction contract for
the Kuwil Kawangkoan Dam been signed, "We are ready at any time. The work

Kuwil Kawangkoan and Ladongi Dams require an investment of Rp 1.51
trillion and Rp 907 billion. For Way Sekampung Dam has been no estimate of
capital needs.
The Ministry of Public Works is
also completing construction of Teritip Dams in East Kalimantan, Bajulmati Dams
in East Java and Payaseunara Dam in
Aceh. Bajulmati project targeted for completion in the past year, while the
Teritip and Payaseunara was a project that should be completed this year.
Bajulmati, Teritip, and Payaseunara each spent Rp 420 billion, Rp 270 billion
and Rp 56.8 billion. According to Imam. President Joko Widodo will inaugurate a
third in the near future.
The government plans to build 24 dams. Until last week, the process of
construction of the 24 projects recorded 32.28 percent, with the absorption of
31.9 percent. In the next year, the government will build nine dams to reach
the target of a total of 65 dams by 2019.
