TIGHT COMPETITION FOR JAVA 1 COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT

PT Adaro Energy Tbk recently announced that it is teaming up with Singaporean firm Sembawang Corporation Pty Ltd in bidding for the 1,600 MW Jawa 1 combined cycle power project in Muara Tawar, Bekasi regency, West Java province.

Rukun Raharja Tbk has also expressed interest in the project. The company is teaming up with Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation and PT Pembangkitan Java Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of PLN.

PT Pertamina (Persero) is also eying the project. The firm has said it will participate in the tender for the project in partnership with Japan's Marubeni Corp and French firm Total & Gas Power.

PT Medco Power Generation Indonesia (MPGI), a power arm of PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, said it is teaming up with Korea Power Company (Kepco) of South Korea and Nebras Energy  of Qatar in bidding for the project.

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) had scheduled bid  submission for the project for July 25.

Tender for Java-1 project was announced by PLN in mid-last year. However, PLN has several times changed the project's RFP and bid submission schedule.
