JAKARTA FUNDS TO MRT & TRANSJAKARTA PROJECTS

Mass transportation projects in Jakarta will continue to run. Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing to spent government participation into nine Regional Owned Enterprises of Jakarta. Two of them, namely PT MRT Jakarta and PT Transportation Jakarta (TransJakarta).

Of the total funding of about Rp 5.54 trillion, approximately Rp 2.8 trillion was allocated to PT MRT Jakarta. "Most of the funds for the construction of the North-South I corridor from Lebak Bulus to HI Roundabout," said Dono Bustami, President Director of PT MRT Jakarta.

According Dono, every year, the government spent funds for the mass transportation project. Understandably, this project will take a lot of fund that is up to US$ 1.5 billion.

The first phase of the MRT project would pass from Lebak Bulus to the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout along the 16 kilometer (km). From Lebak Bulus to Senayan within about 10 km will use overpass construction, while from Senayan to the Hotel Indonesia roundabout wear underground construction. This project will have as many as 13 station stops.
