PT Barata Indonesia exploring cooperation to supply railway locomotives
production component General Electric USA.
President Director of PT Barata Indonesia (Persero) Silmy Karim said
it's still doing an assessment with the US based company.
In the week ahead, according to him, it held a meeting with GE to
discuss the possibility of supplying locomotive components.
Therefore, he stressed the new company to know in detail what components
can be supplied to the manufacturer.
He added that the company's desire become a component supplier GE's locomotives,
in order to enter the global supply chain part of the company from US.
He said it also will involve PT Industri Kereta Api (Inka) as one of the
state that produces the railway.
Earlier, Barata get long-term contracts for 10 years of the company from
Illinois, United States Standard Car Truck Company with a value of
approximately US$ 120 million.
Silmy said long-term contracts stretching from 2011 to 2021. The company
can penetrate the US export market because currently have the certificate of
AAR (Association of America Railroads).
Not only does the US export market, he said, the company is also able to
penetrate export markets Canada to have the certificate.
