INTENSE COMPETITION IN JAVA I COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT PROJECTS

PT Adaro Energy Tbk recently announced that in collaboration with the Singapore-based company Sembawang Pty Ltd in bidding for 1,600 MW Java 1 combined cycle power plant in Muara Tawar, Bekasi, West Java Province.

Rukun Raharja Tbk has also expressed interest in the project. The company is working with Japan Mitsubishi Corporation and PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of PLN.

PT Pertamina (Persero) also looked at the project. The company has said it will participate in the tender for the project in partnership with Japan's Marubeni Corp and companies Total & Gas Power.

PT. Medco Power Generation Indonesia (MPGI), the arm strength of PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, said it is cooperating with the Korean Power Company (Kepco) of South Korea and Nebras Energi of Qatar in bidding for the project.

PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) has scheduled the submission of bids for the project on July 25.

Tender of Java 1 project announced by PLN in the middle of last year. However. PLN has several times changed the RFP and bid submission schedule for the project.
