Construction of transport infrastructure require
substantial funding. Referring to the National Medium Term Development Plan
2015 - 2019, the transport sector requires a budget of Rp 1.600 trillion. The
problem is, the government is only able to provide through the state budget of
Rp 450 trillion. To that end, the Ministry of Transportation formed a team of
finance in charge of planning and preparing projects to be financed through
alternative funding scheme, which is cooperating with the private sector and
SOE. Some of projects proposed to be funded alternative funding schemes namely
development of Mengwi Terminal in Badung (Bali), Tirtonadi Terminal in Solo,
express train line of International Airport Soekarno-Hatta, development of
Jakarta-Surabaya high speed train, development of Kuala Tanjung Port, Karawang
Airport, and New Bali Airport.
